Prehistoric Conflict near Big Canyon
The Antelope Creek Phase cultures dominated the Canadian River valley between 1100 AD and 1450 AD. Prior to the start of the Sanford Dam / Lake Meredith project, archaeological salvage operations turned up human remains at a place called Point 25 at McDowell Creek, in Big Canyon. As it turned out there were more heads than bodies at the site. Wes Phillips, a former Park Range, tells us why and those answers create even more questions. Interview by Randall Derrick. 2:18
